Auction Rules

Bidding

Bids must be submitted via email to auction@baxterweb.com. Please use "Auction Bid" as the subject of the email. The text of the message must include the following information:

You can combine multiple bids in the same email.

If you are not in our database from the previous auction, then we will ask for personal contact information. This information is required for bids to be accepted. (See privacy policy.)

We will send confirmation of your bid via email by the end of the day after it is submitted, Pacific Time. At that time, the online catalog will be updated to reflect all bids received . If you don't see your bid appropriately reflected in the online catalog, you should contact auction@baxterweb.com. We are not responsible for lost bids.

Bids must be in whole US dollars. The first bid must be at least 20% of the estimated value given.  For items where the estimate value is not given ("n/a"), the minimum bid is $1.

The minimum required overbid is the current bid plus the minimum increment, as defined in the table below. A current bid of "$$" means there are no bids.

Current Bid Minimum Increment

$0-49

$1

$50-99

$2

$100-249

$5

$250-499

$10

$500-1000

$20

$1000+

$50

If more than one bid is received for the same amount for the same item, the first bid received will prevail.

PLEASE NOTE: any shipping/handling costs and applicable sales tax are extra, and are not included in the bid amounts.

Maximum Bids (aka Proxy Bidding)

This is a technique like that used by eBay. All bids are treated as the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item. However, your bid will automatically be reduced to the lowest amount that still outbids everyone else. Your maximum bid will be hidden from other bidders so that your winning bid cannot be unfairly driven up.

Here is how it works. If your bid is more than the minimum required bid, we will reduce your bid to that minimum amount. Later, if other bids are received that are less than or equal to your original maximum bid, then we will automatically increase your bid to an appropriate increment over all intervening bids, up to your original maximum bid.

Lot Descriptions

The items described are offered as is. Some photo images have been corrected for exposure (not color), but may deviate slightly from the true color image; your monitor or printer may also distort the colors. Any questions about the accuracy of the descriptive information should be made before the end of the auction. All bids and sales are final.

Changes to the lot descriptions may occur during the auction. If this happens, all corresponding bidders will be notified, and the changes will be logged online.

Auction Duration

The auction starts April 3, and ends at the end of the day April 17, Pacific Time.

At the end of the auction, if the current bid for any lot was received during the final day, that lot will remain open for an additional day.  This will continue until the current bid has survived at least one full day. The purpose of this rule is to give the penultimate bidder a reasonable time to counter-offer, and thus to discourage poaching.

Winning Bids

Generally, the high bidder at the end of the auction (and any necessary extensions) will win the right to purchase the item. There is one exception:

All winning bidders will be notified via email at the end of the auction. Notification will include total costs, including shipping, handling and applicable sales tax. Payment must be received within 10 days of end of the auction. If full payment is not received, we reserve the right to sell items to a lesser bidder or via other means.

Note: If we are unable to contact you via email, for any reason, we reserve the right to sell to the next bidder. If your email is hosted by Bigfoot, Silcom, Skynet, or any other ISP that rejects email based on the ORBS spam filter, you are particularly as risk.

Payment and Shipping

Payment must be in US dollars. Cash, cashier's check, and wire transfer are acceptable. Sorry, no credit cards. Personal checks will only be accepted with prior arrangement from "known" buyers.

You assume the risk for failure of postal transfer of payment. Thus, we recommend that you take appropriate precautions when sending payment, such as insurance or registered/certified mail.

All puzzles will be shipped by conventional US Post Service or UPS. Overseas packages will be shipped air mail, unless the slower but less expensive surface mail is requested. You assume the risk of postal loss or damage; so insurance recommended and available upon request.

Eligibility

Unlike the previous auction, there is no restriction on who may participate.

The Auction catalog is only available online at this web site. If you do not have access to the Internet, then you should contact someone who does to have them print the catalog pages and then place the bids for you.
